The extensive implementation of data networks coupled with the vast improvements in compression technologies has resulted in a mass acceptance of utilizing IP networks to transport AV signals as well as providing the network for control. Whether they are dedicated networks or the applications are integrated onto an existing or multi-functional network, the transition is well under way; AV is and will continue to be an integral component of the IP infrastructure.
