- Flexiva transmitters and Oasis consoles address operational efficiencies for radio broadcasters
- Flexiva transmitters support analog FM and global digital radio broadcast standards
- Oasis™ console offers analog ease of use with simple upgrade path to digital
MELBOURNE, FL/WINNERSH, UK, August 25, 2011 (IBC2011, Booth 7.G20) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will introduce a range of radio broadcast transmitters to IBC audiences (RAI Convention Center, Amsterdam, September 9-13) that address global transmission standards and improve efficiencies in the air chain and transmission infrastructure.
Alongside the Harris® Flexiva™ range of air-cooled solid-state transmitters is the IBC debut of the Harris® PR&E® Oasis™, a standalone on-air and production console that enables radio broadcasters to easily and affordably convert to digital at their convenience.
"Radio broadcasters today are required to make technology investments that build better efficiency into their operations, from the studio facility through to the transmitter," said Harris Morris, president, Harris Broadcast Communications. "Harris continues to invest in its PR&E range of studio systems and consoles, Intraplex® studio-to-transmitter link solutions, and analog and digital transmitters to help broadcasters produce, distribute and transmit content more efficiently."
Flexiva solid-state transmitters provide radio broadcasters with a single platform to support analog and global digital standards. Quad-mode operation supports FM, FM+HD Radio, HD Radio-only or DRM+ digital broadcasting, while the transmitter incorporates Harris Real-Time Adaptive Correction (RTAC™) technology to optimize power and minimize adjacent-channel interference.
Flexiva transmitters are built on the legacy of Harris radio broadcast transmitters, including the ZX® Series and its efficient power supply, cooling and control designs. Available in power levels up to 20kW, Flexiva transmitters also leverage Harris® PowerSmart® technology to create a compact, cost-efficient transmission solution with high power density and low operating costs.
The Oasis analog on-air console is built for radio broadcast studios of any size and budget, and is available in 8- or 12-channel versions that offer a clear digital migration path. Although built for the demands of digital studio operations, the design avoids reliance on PC engines and assemblies to ensure reliable and consistent on-air and production operations.
Oasis incorporates both analog and digital outputs, and provides multiple connections for microphones, CD players, monitors and a direct PC automation channel (no sound card requirements) to support a diverse array of on-air sources. Key differentiators include two assignable Telco channels to any fader, a modular design featuring swappable input cards, and USB playback and recording functionality.
In broadcast communications, Harris offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite and out-of-home networks. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that enable advanced media workflows for emerging content delivery business models.
